Presence and Podcasting
I woke up this morning feeling grateful, supported, and inspired. Many of you may not know this, but Kino MacGregor (one of my all time greatest inspirations in yoga) invited me to be on her podcast. I was thrilled, flattered, nervous, really scared, and intimidated. Of course I said yes! I asked her to share some of the questions she would ask. She did not. I emailed her a second time asking if there were any themes or topics she would like to focus on and she said:
No, is there anything that is important to you?
Is there anything that is off the table?
I responded: I am open to this conversation, nothing is off the table.
Here goes…
I was a bit confused and concerned that I would have no opportunity to prepare for the most important podcast interview I’ve ever done. So I did what I always do when something important is about to happen: I practiced, journaled, hiked, processed, panicked, repeat.
The day of the interview I felt nervous and distinctly calm. I logged on SUPER early to our call and, of course, no one was logged on. I stayed on anyway. 30 minutes before the podcast, no one is logged on; 15 minutes before, nothing; 5 minutes before, still no one. I PANICKED. I was convinced Kino changed her mind and realized there was nothing to talk about. 10 minutes after our scheduled time, Kino logs on and apologizes saying there was a student emergency she was tending to. I immediately exhaled and felt more settled and connected. The mind is such a powerful force; so is communication.
Once the logistics had been settled, I again asked Kino what she wanted to focus on and she asked, “Why do you practice? What have you been up to this last year?” We chatted for 5 minutes and hit record. Here is what came through…
I am beyond honored and humbled by this entire experience. It will mean the world to me for you to listen and let me know how it goes. Thank you always.
